Abstract

INDONESIA : Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan self confidence pada siswa di SMP. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa, (2) perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa berdasarkan tingkatan Pengetahuan Awal Matematika (PAM) yang kategorinya tinggi, sedang dan rendah; serta (3) mengetahui perbedaan Self Confidence siswa antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan Strategi Pembelajaran Aktif Model Learning Start With A Question (LSQ) dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan populasi berjumlah lima kelas yaitu kelas VIII-A sampai VIII-E, pemilihan sampel menggunakan teknik Simple Random Sampling dua sampel terpilih yaitu kelas VIII-A dan VIII-D dengan. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dengan kriteria validitas tinggi, soal PAM dengan kriteria validitas tinggi serta angket self confidence . Hasil penelitian diperoleh : (1) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis pada siswa yang memperoleh Model (LSQ) dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional; (2) terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan Model (LSQ) dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional berdasarkan tingkatan (PAM); (3) terdapat perbedaan Self Confidence siswa antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan Model (LSQ) dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model LSQ dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self confidence siswa. ENGLISH : This research was motivated by the lack of critical mathematical thinking skills and self-confidence in junior high school students. The aim of this research is to determine: (1) the differences in the improvement of students' mathematical critical thinking abilities, (2) the differences in the achievement of students' mathematical critical thinking abilities based on the levels of Prior Mathematics Knowledge (PAM) which are categorized as high, medium and low; and (3) knowing the differences in student Self Confidence between students who receive learning using the Active Learning Strategy Start With A Question (LSQ) Learning Model and students who receive conventional learning models. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental. This research was conducted with a population of five classes, namely classes VIII-A to VIII-E, the sample selection used the Simple Random Sampling technique, two samples were selected, namely classes VIII-A and VIII-D with. The instruments used were tests of students' critical mathematical thinking skills with high validity criteria, PAM questions with high validity criteria and self-confidence questionnaires. The research results obtained: (1) there is a difference in the increase in critical mathematical thinking skills in students who received the Model (LSQ) and students who received the conventional learning model; (2) there is a difference in the achievement of mathematical critical thinking skills between students who receive learning with models (LSQ) and students who receive conventional learning models based on levels (PAM); (3) there is a difference in student Self Confidence between students who receive model learning (LSQ) and students who receive conventional learning models. This it can be concluded that the application of the LSQ model can improve students' critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
