Abstract
Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. Phaseoli is a bacterial phatogen that causes against common bacterial blight in upright bean plants. This diasese can damage plants with very heavy intensity (>75%). Alternative control that can be done is the utilization of natural chemical compounds of plants to be used as vegetable bactericides. Neem seeds (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) are part of neem plants that can be utilized as a vegetable bactericide because they contain azadiracthin compounds, flavonoids, alkaloids and saponins that function as antibacterials. The aims of this reasearch were to determine the effectiveness and effective concentration to inhibit the growth of bacterial colonies and the intensity of attack by common bacterial blight (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. Phaseoli) on upright bean plants. The research was conducted from June to October 2023 in Toblong Village, Peundeuy District, Garut Regency, West Java Province. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) in the in vitro test and a randomized group design (RAK) in the in vivo test. In vitro and in vivo testing in this study was carried out 7 treatments and 6 replicates. Concentrations in in vitro and in vivo testing are: A = Control, B = 1%, C = 2%, D = 3%, E = 4%, F = 5% and G = 6%. The results showed that neem seed extract with a concentration of 2% - 6% effectively and efficiently inhibited the growth of bacterial colonies Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. Phaseoli in the in vitro test and able to reduce the intensity of common bacterial blight disease in upright bean plants in the in vivo test.
