Abstract

The communicator may use movies as a medium to deliver their message. The movie offers great insights, lessons, and morals that viewers can apply them in their own lives. Referring to Pierce’s semiotic analysis, the biography film of Buya Hamka Vol.1 offers lessons and interpretations of Sufistic life principles This study aims to clarify the connection between the Buya Hamka vol. 1 film, which serves as an inspirational video for cultivating a growth mindset, also the message and meaning of the worth of a Sufistic existence. This research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic theory of content analysis method up to the interpretation step. The findings indicated that, from the standpoint of Buya Hamka's Modern Sufism, the Buya Hamka Vol. 1 film is relevant to the qualities of a Sufistic existence, including lust and sense, sincerity, zuhud, tawakal, qonaah, and happiness. The audience can cultivate a growth attitude by being inspired from Buya Hamka's life story, forming moral character, finding spiritual instructors for advice, and looking for a nurturing environment.
