Abstract

ENGLISH : The purpose of this research is to identify focalization of guilt of mystery narrative and examine guilt of mystery narrative contribution impact to the story "And Then There Were None" 1939. This research used qualitative method: the data of the research were taken from narrative novel. They were classified by using genette’s theory (1980) for focalization and stanton’s theory (1965) for intrinsic element. The findings of the research show the novel intricately utilizes omniscient focalization to unravel a gripping tale of mystery and psychological suspense. By delving into the inner thoughts and motivations of various characters, the narrative provides readers with a comprehensive understanding of the story from different perspectives, enriching the exploration of character dynamics and relationships. Additionally, the strategic use of omniscient focalization heightens the mystery by selectively revealing information known to the narrator but not to the characters, maintaining tension and intrigue throughout the plot. Christie masterfully employs this narrative technique to create a captivating story that keeps readers eagerly guessing until the very end. Moreover, the theme of guilt serves as a central element in "And Then There Were None", driving the narrative forward with moral dilemmas and moments of catharsis for the characters. As each character grapples with their past misdeeds and faces the consequences of their actions on an isolated island, their guilt resurfaces, leading to intense introspection and self-reflection. However, through the harrowing ordeal, characters ultimately find redemption and closure, finding release from the burdens of their guilt. Christie skillfully weaves together these themes of guilt, justice, and morality to create a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of human nature and keeps readers engrossed until the final revelation. INDONESIA : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi fokalisasi rasa bersalah pada narasi misteri dan menguji kontribusi rasa bersalah pada narasi misteri terhadap dampak cerita “And Then There Were None” 1939. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif: Data penelitian diambil dari novel naratif. Mereka diklasifikasikan menggunakan teori Genette (1980) untuk fokalisasi dan teori Stanton (1965) untuk elemen intrinsik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel ini secara rumit memanfaatkan fokus fokalisasi mahatahu untuk mengungkap kisah misteri dan ketegangan psikologis yang mencekam. Dengan menggali pemikiran batin dan motivasi berbagai karakter, narasinya memberikan pembaca pemahaman komprehensif tentang cerita dari berbagai perspektif, memperkaya eksplorasi dinamika dan hubungan karakter. Selain itu, penggunaan fokalisasi mahatahu secara strategis meningkatkan misteri dengan secara selektif mengungkapkan informasi yang diketahui oleh narator tetapi tidak diketahui oleh karakternya, menjaga ketegangan dan intrik di sepanjang plot. Christie dengan ahli menggunakan teknik narasi ini untuk menciptakan cerita menawan yang membuat pembaca terus menebak-nebak hingga akhir. Selain itu, tema rasa bersalah menjadi elemen sentral dalam "And Then There Were None", yang mendorong narasi ke depan dengan dilema moral dan momen katarsis bagi para karakter. Ketika masing-masing karakter bergulat dengan kesalahan masa lalu mereka dan menghadapi konsekuensi dari tindakan mereka di pulau terpencil, rasa bersalah mereka muncul kembali, yang mengarah pada introspeksi dan refleksi diri yang intens. Namun, melalui cobaan berat tersebut, para karakter akhirnya menemukan penebusan dan penutupan, menemukan pelepasan dari beban rasa bersalah mereka. Christie dengan terampil merangkai tema-tema rasa bersalah, keadilan, dan moralitas untuk menciptakan narasi menarik yang mengeksplorasi kompleksitas sifat manusia dan membuat pembaca asyik hingga cerita berakhir.
