Abstract

This research focused on analyzing how the rejection of women stereotypes in films Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) using Bell Hooks's feminist theory and Mary Wollstonecraft's feminist theory. Stereotypes was a perspective and thought attached to individuals or groups of people that could not be separated from society, especially women. The researcher presented two statements of problem related to the rejection of women stereotypes in the films Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). The purposes in this research were to analyze how the rejection of women stereotypes portrayed in the Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) through their resilience and intelligence. The research used a mimetic approach with feminist theory because related to feminism as a representation of life and a representation of the expectations of society's views on women. The researcher used dialog in the script and scenes in both films to obtain data. In both films, there were aspects of feminism towards the image of tough, dominant and strong. The images of tough and strong referred to characters that women are not inherently weak and prone to surrender in any circumstance, be it mental or physical. The dominance of women is considered a form of strong and dominant leadership, in the context domineering was a form of matriarchal stereotypes.
