Abstract
This research discusses how domestic violence is depicted in the novel "It Ends With Us" by Colleen Hoover through the approaches of cultural studies, feminism, and Stuart Hall's concept of representation. Domestic violence, which is a troubling global issue, is analyzed in the context of popular literature to understand how domestic violence is portrayed, its impact, and implications for society. A qualitative research design was used to explore the narratives, characters, and themes surrounding domestic violence in this novel in detail. The analysis revealed complexities in violent relationships, social norms, and individual experiences, highlighting the recurring tendency of violence and the prolonged trauma it causes. Through an examination of the perspectives and responses of peripheral characters, this research reveals the complex dynamics surrounding domestic violence, including family ties, societal expectations, and the role of personal experience. The findings emphasize the importance of empathy, understanding and collective action in addressing domestic violence and building a culture of support and empowerment for victims. The research also alludes to the importance for feminists to understand the patriarchal culture that influences domestic violence cases, where patriarchal culture can reinforce attitudes and actions that support violence against women. This research provides a deeper understanding of the representation of domestic violence in literary works and its implications for society.
