Abstract

The teaching of English writing does not run very smoothly. Fact shows that EFL learners generally have problems with grammar, vocabulary, organization, and mechanics while at the same time producing a quality piece of writing. The Montessori method is currently utilized to teach students writing. Under this Montessori Method, students can learn to write by choosing their topics. By giving students the freedom to select their writing topics, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated in the writing process. The purpose of this study is to find out the process of learning to write a Descriptive text using Montessori Method and also the aim of this study is students’ responses to learning to write Descriptive text using Montessori Method while in the classroom activity. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Observation and interviews were implemented to collect data for this research. The observation was made to answer the first research question and the interview was made to answer the second question. the researcher employs a case study design to investigate a specific context in which the Montessori method is rarely used in the classroom. This study investigates students’ experience in writing descriptive text using the Montessori method in a specific context, and how the Montessori method is needed in the study of language. The process of using the Montessori method in writing a descriptive text is to develop the student's likes and interests in writing. Along with the sensory activities used in this Montessori method. Where students love the lesson on sensory activities, especially the sensory that is needed in this study, of seeing, hearing, and touching. Students are always curious if they wants to see something, or hold something. Therefore, this study was made for them so that they would like to develop their writing or work and be read by the public. The responses of using Montessori method in writing a descriptive text is to know how students’ feel while classroom activity. Students get basic writing knowledge from the teacher, and the teacher's responsibility is to increase students' acceptance of learning material during learning activities in the classroom. This research responds that writing a description text for students can give them added insight into exploring what they like about them. They could put it in an inscription. They can explore more of the words in English and got new vocabulary to write on a paper. Montessori method is recommended to apply in learn English especially in writing text. Looked out the learning process that has applied, students really love a lesson once they draw on what is around them. Use of various methods is highly recommended to make students feel at ease and snuggle upon receiving lessons.
