Abstract

ENGLISH : The habit of carrying out self-diagnosis by looking for health information on the internet or what is known as cyberchondria is something that is much loved by generation Z. Seeing the importance of this, this research aims to investigate the influence of self-esteem and parental support on cyberchondria in generation Z. This research is quantitative using a causality approach. A total of 150 respondents for this study were obtained using accidental sampling technique. The results of the study carried out a binary logistic regression analysis which was carried out to test the influence of self-esteem and parental support on the level of cyberchondria. The logistic regression model obtained statistically χ2 = -2.716 sig value = .000, p<0.005. The model explains 40.5% (Nagelkerke R2) of cyberchondria and classifies 78.9% of the levels of cyberchondria that actually occur. This concludes that high parental support has a negative impact on high levels of cyberchondria, while high self-esteem has no impact on high levels of cyberchondria. The higher the parental support given to Gen Z who commit cyberchondria, it can reduce by 0.066 the level of someone committing cyberchondria.
