Abstract

This topic of this study is the effective of Smash Book on Student's Writing ability in Narrative text - a pre-experimental study at the nine grade of SMPN 3 Cileunyi Bandung. The objective of this study is to investigate wheter Smash Book is significantly effective to improve student's writing ability in narrative text. The purpose of the research was (1) to know the student's writing ability before using smash book, (2) to know the student's writing ability after using smash book, (3) to know the significance difference between student's writing ability before and after using smash book. This is a pre-experimental study an involved nine grades students of SMPN 3 Cileunyi Bandung. The participants consist of 31 students of IX F as the experimental group. The experimental group was exposed smash book in teaching learning of reading comprehension. The data were obtained by using pretest and posttest. The pretest was given before the treatment and the posttest were calculated using analytical statistics. The result of the data analysis shows that the average of student's writing ability before using smash book is 56.97 meaning low category, while the average score in the result of posttest by using smash book is 74.87 meaning high category. The result of calculating t-test is t count = 14.67 is higher that t table =2.04. It means, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means there is a significant difference of student's writing ability by using smash book. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of smash book on studen's writing ability in narrative text it is very important for the teacher that smash book can be used as an media in teaching narrative.
