Abstract
Based on IUCN (2020) and CITES (1990), Orang utans are listed as Critically Endangered and Appendix I. One strategy that can be used to conserve Orang utans (Pongo pygmaeus) is ex-situ in zoos. Bandung Zoo is an ex-situ animal conservation institution that handles breeding Orang utans. There is one individual Orang utan from breeding that has been at the Bandung Zoo since birth. The aim of this research is to determine the response of bred Orang utans to natural feeding and increase the activity of bred Orang utans at Bandung Zoo. Observations were carried out using focal animal sampling and ad libitum sampling methods. The duration of observation was 5 hours/day (09.00-15.00 WIB) with a research duration of 30 days. The objects observed included one female Orang utan cub resulting from breeding (5 years). The treatment consisted of 15 types of food and 5 types of objects which were applied variously every day during observation. Observation. Data were analyzed using quantitative and descriptive analysis. The most preferred food products were dewadaru fruit, passion fruit and persimmons which had a weight score of 5. Environmental enrichment succeeded in increasing play activity before enrichment by 27.47 minutes to 80.27 minutes with a difference of 52.75 minutes and eating before enrichment by 8. 47 minutes to 19.63 minutes with a difference of 11.16 minutes, as well as reducing rest activity time by 31.97 minutes. The lowest activity was obtained from urination activity.
