Abstract
Semiotics is a theory that provides signs that have meaning and these signs are then interpreted as a form of understanding life. Humans through their intellectual abilities try to interact using signs as tools for various purposes, in this context verbal violence becomes an important part in supporting the characteristics of certain characters. The research method used is a qualitative content analysis research method by considering visual narratives, dialogue, and the actions of the main characters in building a story. This study also explores the relationship between semiotics and verbal violence using Charles Sanders Peirce's theory which contains important elements, namely representation, objects, and interpretants. The results of the analysis show that the series "Stranger Things Season 4" represents verbal violence in the form of bullying, cursing, and using harsh words related to Peirce's semiotic theory. The purpose of this study is to contribute to our understanding of how films or series influence and reflect social perceptions of verbal violence.
