Abstract
Gender discrimination is any form of differentiation and exclusion based on socially constructed gender positions and roles that prevent individuals from fully exercising their human rights. Discrimination is often experienced by women because society still places women in a subordinate and marginal position that must be controlled. As a reflection of social reality, films often raise the issue of discrimination against women. This research aims to conduct an analysis of the film Moxie (2021) by formulating the problem of analyzing forms of gender discrimination and forms of women's resistance to discrimination that occur throughout the film scenes. Simon de Beauvoir's existentialist feminist theory is used to analyze women's struggle against discrimination. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method to collect data and analyze films. The results of the analysis of forms of gender discrimination in Moxie (2021) are that there are 9 scenes that show discrimination against women. The forms of discrimination that occur in this film are sexual harassment, violence, marginalization, and sexism. For the forms of women's struggle against discrimination in this film, 9 scenes were found according to Simon de Beauvoir's theory, including, education and awareness, active participation in social and political life, solidarity and Unity and defiance of patriarchal norms. The struggle of women against gender discrimination in the film Moxie, carried out by Vivian and her friends, ultimately made Rockport High School students and teachers aware social awareness about the existence of gender discrimination.
