Abstract

This study aims to explore students' experiences in understanding English narrative text through translation activities. The research method used is a qualitative case study with participants from Mekar Arum Junior High School students. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires. The results showed that students experienced some challenges in understanding English reading text, such as limited vocabulary and difficulty understanding contextual meaning. However, translation also provides benefits, such as improving reading comprehension and enriching students' vocabulary. In conclusion, translation can be an effective strategy for learning reading comprehension for EFL students, although it requires teacher guidance to overcome linguistic difficulties.
