Abstract

INDONESIA : Politik gentong babi merupakan praktik pengalokasian dana publik untuk kepentingan elektoral, yang ramai diperbincangkan dalam film dokumenter Dirty Vote. Tempo.co sebagai arus utama memegang peran penting dalama menyuarakan isu ini dengan sudut pandang kritis. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjawab pertanyaan utama, yaitu bagaimana kontruksi realitas pemberitaan politik gentong babi dibentuk oleh Tempo.co dalam konteks menjelang Pemilu 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi, serta teori kontruksi sosial Peter L. Berger dan Thomas Luckmann melalui tiga proses dialektis: eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan wartawan dan redaktur Tempo.co serta dokumentasi pemberitaan yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap eksternalisasi, Tempo.co memilih isu gentong babi karena nilai berita, urgensi politik, dan fungsi edukasi politik. Pada tahap objektivasi, Tempo.co menggunakan kutipan ahli, data faktual, serta penggunaan diksi kritis untuk membentuk narasi yang tampak objektif. Sedangkan pada tahap internalisasi, audiens menyerap informasi tersebut, membangun pemahaman baru, dan bersikap lebih kritis terhadap praktik politik yang dianggap menyimpang. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Tempo.co secara aktif membentuk kontruksi realitas politik gentong babi melalui praktik jurnal;istik yang terstruktur dan kritis. Tempo.co tidak hanya menyajikan fakta, tetapi juga menjalankan fungsi edukasi politik, sekaligus berperan dalam meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap praktik penyalahgunaan kekuasaan menjelang pemilu. ENGLISH : Pork barrel politics refers to the allocation of public funds for electoral purposes, widely discussed in the documentary film Dirty Vote. Tempo.co, as a mainstream media outlet, plays a significant role in voicing this issue from a critical perspective. This study aims to answer the main reserch question: how does Tempo.co construct the social rea;ity of pork barrel politics in its coverage during the 2024 election context. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, guided by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann’s theory of social contruction. The theory explains that social reality is formed through three dialectical stages: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Tempo.co journalists and editors, as well as documentation of relevant news article. The findings reveal that in the externalization stage, Tempo.co selected the pork barrel issue based on news value, political urgency, and its role in political education. In the objectivation stage, the reporting was constructed by presenting expert opinions, factual data, and critical word choices to shape a narrative that appeared objective. In the the internalization stage, the audience absorbed the information, developed new understandings, and became more critical toward political practices considered to be deviant. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Tempo.co actively constructs the political reality of pork barrel practices through structured and critical journalistic work. Tempo.co not only presents facts but also fulfills an educational function, contributing to raising public awareness of power abuse practices in the run-up to the election.
