This study aims to investigate how a teaching program integrating human translation, machine translation, and error analysis supports students’ mastery of English tenses and to examine the effectiveness of the program in improving students’ tenses mastery. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a mixed-methods approach. The participants were eleventh-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class received instruction through a teaching program that combined human translation, machine translation, and error analysis, while the control class was taught using conventional grammar instruction. The effectiveness of the teaching program integrating human translation, machine translation, and error analysis was examined through students’ pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed that both the control and experimental groups experienced improvement; however, the experimental group demonstrated a greater increase in tense mastery. While the control group’s mean score improved from 46 to 66, the experimental group showed a more substantial improvement from 48 to 75. The paired samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference in both groups, with a higher magnitude of improvement in the experimental group (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the integration of machine translation and error analysis, alongside human translation, effectively enhanced students’ grammatical understanding and learning outcomes, making this approach a valuable alternative to conventional instruction. The qualitative findings revealed that the teaching program encouraged active student engagement, enhanced grammatical awareness, and supported students in identifying and correcting errors related to tense usage and subject–verb agreement. Through the process of comparing human translations with machine-generated translations, students became more aware of grammatical patterns and demonstrated improved ability to apply English tenses accurately. Overall, the results indicate that the integration of human translation, machine translation, and error analysis is an effective approach to improving students’ mastery of English tenses and fostering more reflective and analytical grammar learning.
