Abstract
The Internet "meme" is described as a derivative parodied aspect of pop culture that repeated over and over, becoming a cross between an inside joke and a catchphrase. In this research discuses memes that are semiotic objects of communication in the form of images/symbols that reveal and contains a meaning and therefore must be understood. The researcher examined the semiotic context of Memes from Television series Breaking Bad. This formulated into two questions: 1) What Denotations and Connotations are in Memes found on Breaking Bad? And 2) How do Denotations and Connotations represent the purposes in every meme on Breaking Bad This research used a Qualitative method narrative research type in which it focuses on collecting and interpreting stories to understand how individuals make sense of their experiences that are generally oriented in inductive logic. The object of this research using descriptive method to described the data from the meme from 2020 until now. That contains denotation and connotation also the context from the source that is the Breaking Bad series. The result of this research after being analyzed of the denotation, connotation and the context showed all of 20 datums of the meme is that the Breaking Bad meme used only to convey a certain emotion from the series, and projecting it by putting the background story sometimes a silly situation with more dramatic expression. Because, a lot of users did not care if the context from the episode is relevant or not.
