Abstract

INDONESIA Insiden jatuhnya pendaki asal Brasil di Gunung Rinjani pada Juni 2025 menjadi perhatian publik dan memunculkan diskusi mengenai keselamatan pendakian serta pengelolaan wisata alam. Dalam konteks ini, media daring tidak hanya menyampaikan informasi, tetapi juga membingkai peristiwa melalui penonjolan aspek tertentu yang memengaruhi cara publik memahami tragedi dan arah diskursus dalam ruang publik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola framing pemberitaan insiden tersebut pada Tempo.co serta melihat implikasinya terhadap pembentukan wacana publik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan paradigma kritis dan metode studi kasus, serta analisis framing Robert N. Entman yang meliputi define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgment, dan treatment recommendation, dengan data berupa 21 berita periode Juni–Juli 2025. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tempo.co membingkai insiden sebagai kecelakaan pendakian dengan menekankan risiko alam, kompleksitas medan, dan proses evakuasi. Penyebab peristiwa lebih diarahkan pada faktor situasional, sementara penilaian moral menekankan pentingnya kewaspadaan pendaki. Namun, framing tersebut cenderung minim dalam menyoroti tanggung jawab struktural. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberitaan Tempo.co tidak sepenuhnya netral karena lebih menonjolkan aspek tertentu dan mengurangi aspek lainnya. Hal ini berdampak pada terbatasnya ruang publik yang terbentuk, sehingga diskursus yang berkembang kurang mendorong kritik terhadap kebijakan dan pengelolaan keselamatan pendakian secara lebih komprehensif. ENGLISH The incident involving a Brazilian hiker falling on Mount Rinjani in June 2025 attracted widespread public attention and sparked discussions on hiking safety and tourism management. In this context, online media not only function as information providers but also frame events by highlighting certain aspects, thereby influencing how the public interprets the tragedy and shaping discourse within the public sphere. This study aims to identify the framing patterns of Tempo.co in reporting the incident and to examine their implications for public discourse formation. The research employs a qualitative approach with a critical paradigm and a case study method. It applies Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis, consisting of define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgment, and treatment recommendation, using 21 news articles published between June and July 2025 as the unit of analysis. The findings show that Tempo.co frames the incident as a hiking accident by emphasizing natural risks, terrain complexity, and the evacuation process. The causes are largely attributed to situational factors, while moral judgments stress the importance of hikers’ caution. However, the framing tends to minimize structural responsibility in the management of hiking safety. In conclusion, Tempo.co’s coverage is not entirely neutral, as it highlights certain aspects while downplaying others. This framing contributes to a limited public sphere, where discourse is less critical toward policies and institutional responsibilities related to hiking safety and tourism management.
