Abstract
Instagram merupakan salah satu platform media sosial yang banyak digunakan oleh berbagai kalangan, khususnya pada mahasiswa. Penggunaan Instagram mampu memicu reaksi psikologis yang beragam termasuk munculnya fenomena perbandingan sosial, yang diduga dapat memengaruhi self-esteem penggunanya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbandingan sosial terhadap self-esteem pada pengguna Instagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik accidental sampling. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 137 responden yang merupakan mahasiswa UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung dengan rentang usia 18-24 tahun. Perbandingan sosial diukur menggunakan lowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) sedangkan self-esteem diukur menggunakan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan sosial berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap self-esteem dengan nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar .057 atau 5,7%.
