Abstract

INDONESIA : Penelitian ini mengkaji dinamika gerakan Salafi di Bandung Raya pasca-Reformasi 1998–2025 dalam kaitannya dengan transformasi sosial, budaya, dan keagamaan masyarakat Sunda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan historis gerakan Salafi di Bandung Raya, menjelaskan peran agensi dan struktur dalam pembentukan, reproduksi, dan perluasan gerakan, serta menganalisis transformasi sosial, budaya, dan keagamaan yang berlangsung dalam masyarakat Sunda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah dengan pendekatan sejarah sosial melalui tahapan heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Teori strukturasi Anthony Giddens digunakan untuk menganalisis hubungan dinamis antara agensi dan struktur dalam perkembangan gerakan Salafi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gerakan Salafi di Bandung Raya berkembang melalui jaringan aktor, pesantren, majelis kajian, dan media dakwah yang mengalami perubahan dari ruang dakwah konvensional menuju radio, televisi, dan media digital. Perkembangan tersebut membentuk proses reproduksi praktik, identitas, pengetahuan, dan otoritas keagamaan baru. Hubungan antara agensi dan struktur menunjukkan bahwa aktor-aktor Salafi tidak hanya bergerak dalam struktur sosial-keagamaan yang telah ada, tetapi juga turut mereproduksi dan mentransformasi struktur tersebut melalui lembaga pendidikan, jaringan dakwah, komunitas, dan media. Dinamika tersebut menghasilkan transformasi sosial, budaya, dan keagamaan masyarakat Sunda yang tampak dalam perubahan praktik keagamaan, gaya hidup, identitas, pendidikan, ruang sosial, dan otoritas keagamaan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa gerakan Salafi di Bandung Raya bukanlah entitas yang tunggal dan statis, melainkan gerakan yang mengalami dinamika, adaptasi, dan transformasi melalui interaksi antara agensi dan struktur dalam konteks perubahan masyarakat Sunda. Temuan ini memperkuat penggunaan teori strukturasi dalam menganalisis dinamika historis gerakan sosial keagamaan sekaligus menunjukkan adanya keragaman bentuk adaptasi gerakan Salafi di ruang sosial dan keagamaan kontemporer. ENGLISH : This study examines the dynamics of the Salafi movement in Greater Bandung after the Reformation (1998–2025) in relation to the social, cultural, and religious transformations of Sundanese society. This study aims to analyze the historical development of the Salafi movement in Greater Bandung, explain the role of agency and structure in the formation, reproduction, and expansion of the movement, and analyze the ongoing social, cultural, and religious transformations in Sundanese society. This research uses a historical method with a social history approach through the stages of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Anthony Giddens' structuration theory is used to analyze the dynamic relationship between agency and structure in the development of the Salafi movement. The results show that the Salafi movement in Greater Bandung developed through a network of actors, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), study groups, and da'wah media, which underwent a shift from conventional da'wah spaces to radio, television, and digital media. This development shaped the reproduction of new religious practices, identities, knowledge, and authority. The relationship between agency and structure shows that Salafi actors not only operate within existing socio- religious structures but also reproduce and transform these structures through educational institutions, da'wah networks, communities, and the media. These dynamics result in social, cultural, and religious transformations in Sundanese society, evident in changes in religious practices, lifestyles, identities, education, social spaces, and religious authority. This study finds that the Salafi movement in Greater Bandung is not a single, static entity, but rather a movement that experiences dynamics, adaptation, and transformation through the interaction between agency and structure within the context of changing Sundanese society. These findings strengthen the use of structuration theory in analyzing the historical dynamics of socio-religious movements and demonstrate the diversity of forms of adaptation of the Salafi movement in contemporary social and religious spaces.
