Abstract

ENGLISH: In Indonesia, various women’s da’wah communities have emerged, demonstrating the evolution of da’wah activities from a personal nature to a community movement that targets the interests and identities of the audience more specifically. One such community that promotes da’wah within a women’s context is the Komunitas Muslimah Berkah Indonesia (MBI). Although da’wah within women’s communities is common, in-depth studies on participation in activities, shared understandings of da’wah’s objectives, and the community culture that is formed and collectively interpreted remain limited, making this an intriguing topic for research. This study aims to explore da'wah in women’s communities using Etienne Wenger’s Community of Practice theory to examine the dimensions of mutual engagement, joint enterprise, and shared repertoire within the community, and the theory of the da'wah field to analyze a community’s da'wah field from theological, structural, and cultural perspectives. The research method used was a qualitative ethnographic approach, with the Muslimah Berkah Indonesia (MBI) community as the research subject. Data collection was conducted through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews focusing on aspects of involvement in da’wah activities, shared da’wah goals, and shared culture within the MBI community. The research findings indicate that da’wah within the Muslimah Berkah Indonesia (MBI) community is characterized by three processes. First, collective participation in da’wah activities is evident through the involvement of female participants via the roles they play and the forms of contribution they provide. Second, the orientation of da’wah is evident in the process of formulating da’wah objectives that are collectively understood by the community, subsequently implemented through community programs, and upheld through a shared commitment to those objectives. Third, the characteristics of the community are shaped by its identity, routines, and the community communication channels used. These three processes demonstrate that da’wah within the Muslimah Berkah Indonesia community is formed through members’ involvement in carrying out programs oriented toward da’wah objectives while simultaneously building the characteristics of the MBI community.
