Abstract

This study aimed to explore students’ positive experiences of using digital posters in learning reading comprehension and to identify the challenges they encountered during the learning activities. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. The participants were seventh-grade students of SMPN 6 Kota Sukabumi who participated in reading activities using digital posters. Data were collected through a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The questionnaire provided an overview of students’ positive experiences and perceived challenges, while the interviews provided more in-depth information about their experiences. Regarding the first research question, the findings showed that students generally had positive experiences when using digital posters. Students experienced the digital posters as attractive and helpful for previewing the reading, identifying the main idea, locating specific information, constructing meaning, organizing information, and making summaries. Pictures, key points, and the organized arrangement of information were the features most frequently perceived as helpful. Regarding the second research question, the findings showed that students encountered several challenges, particularly unfamiliar vocabulary, difficulty connecting new information with prior knowledge, difficulty processing some visual information, and minor technical problems. Overall, the findings indicate that digital posters provided a supportive learning experience by presenting reading information through integrated textual and visual elements.
