Abstract

The study reports on the students’ response toward the imlementation of Total Physical Response (TR) in teaching listening. The researcher aimed at portraying (1) the implemention of Total Physical Response (TPR) in teaching listening conducted by the teacher. (2) to know the students’ response toward the implementation of TPR in teaching listening. This is qualitative study at the 3rd grade of elementary school at SD Plus Baiturrahman, Ujung Berung. The data were obtained by using classroom observation and interview. The results of the data analysis shows that First, there are three steps in implementing TPR in teaching listening namely pre-teaching, whilst-teaching, and post-teaching. Second, most of the students enjoyed the learning process and do not feel bored when they were being taught using Total Physical Response (TPR) method. The positive response was shown in three components of response namely cognitive components, affective components, and behavior components. It is very important for the teacher that Total Physical Response can be an alternative to teach young learner.
