Abstract
This research aims to describe forms of sexual deviation and the personalities of the main character in E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey by using the psychoanalysis theory and the structure of personalities developed by Sigmund Freud to describe foms of sexual deviation and personalities based on Id, Ego and Superego. Thus, in this research, the researcher proposed two research problems: 1. How is the sexual deviation of the main character in Fifty Shades of Grey? 2. How are Id, Ego and Superego potrayed through the main character in Fifty Shades of Grey? According to the two research problems, the researcher is presented literary psychology, elements in novel, literary psychology and forms of sexual deviation in the main character. the researcher used a qualitative design for this research, focusing on the description, and the interpretation applied to picture the Id, Ego and Superego as well as the sexual deviation of the main character. From the analysis, the researcher will find out the forms of sexual deviation experience by the main character as well as the Id, Ego and Superego. The conclusion is that the researcher found several forms of sexual deviation from the main character, Christian Grey, which are Sadism, Fetisism, and Voyuorism. While another lead character, Anastasia Steel has a Masokism sexual deviation. From the analysis of why these sexual deviation are experienced by both main characters in E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey, it is refer to the psychoanalysis theory developed by Sigmund Freud as sexuality and sructure of personality.
