Abstract

The research discuss the study of interjection translation. The purpose of the ‎research are: (1) to identify the equivalent of Indonesian interjection meaning into ‎English interjection in 5 Cm film and its English subtitle, (2) to analyse translation ‎technique of interjection. The main theory used in the research is proposed by Fawcet ‎‎(1997) in translation technique category. The research used qualitative descriptive ‎approach to get the purposes of the research. Technique of collecting data used ‎documentation technique by steps orientation, reduction and selection from source ‎data of Indonesian interjection and its English subtitle. After collecting the data, the ‎researcher analysed, compared, determined and concluded the data of research. The ‎result of the research consist of: (1) the meaning of 42 interjection word are translated ‎into 3 categories they are (15) lexical meaning, (4) grammatical meaning and (22) ‎contextual meaning. The research shows that contextual meaning dominantly used to ‎equivalent interjection meaning in the film and it is equivalent in translating ‎Indonesian interjection to English interjection. (2) the translation technique used are ‎literal (16), transposition (6), compensation (15) and modulation (5). Therefore, ‎translation technique that frequently used is literal translation. This show that ‎translator doesn’t make any significant change to keep the meaning and message as ‎same as source language.‎
