Abstract
The research discuss the study of interjection translation. The purpose of the research are: (1) to identify the equivalent of Indonesian interjection meaning into English interjection in 5 Cm film and its English subtitle, (2) to analyse translation technique of interjection. The main theory used in the research is proposed by Fawcet (1997) in translation technique category. The research used qualitative descriptive approach to get the purposes of the research. Technique of collecting data used documentation technique by steps orientation, reduction and selection from source data of Indonesian interjection and its English subtitle. After collecting the data, the researcher analysed, compared, determined and concluded the data of research. The result of the research consist of: (1) the meaning of 42 interjection word are translated into 3 categories they are (15) lexical meaning, (4) grammatical meaning and (22) contextual meaning. The research shows that contextual meaning dominantly used to equivalent interjection meaning in the film and it is equivalent in translating Indonesian interjection to English interjection. (2) the translation technique used are literal (16), transposition (6), compensation (15) and modulation (5). Therefore, translation technique that frequently used is literal translation. This show that translator doesn’t make any significant change to keep the meaning and message as same as source language.
