Abstract
This research explains about the hero in James Dashner’s The 13th Reality of the Journal of Curious Letters Novel. The main character which acts as a hero in The 13th Reality of the Journal of Curious Letters gives an influence on adventure formula. The main character in the novel has constructed an adventure formula with stories about a journey he did. The main character acts as a hero to constructed an adventure formula in the novel. Therefore this research has two problem formulations including: (1) How is hero portrayed in the novel The 1313 Reality of the Journal of Curious Letters? and (2) How does adventure formulas in the novel The 13th Reality of the Journal of Curious Letters? The results of this study are that the main characters who act as a hero are described as smart characters, brave characters, and winer characters. The depiction can also be applied through the stages of the journey passed by the hero. With technical stories about a journey, the main character as a hero constructed adventure formula in The 13th Reality of the Journal of Curious Letters through their depiction.
