Abstract

This study was intended to determine the roles of the teacher’s and students’ attitudes aboout the use of digital platforms in critical reading classes. In particular, this research has two objectives: a) to fibd out the roles of the teacher on learning critical reading in the classroom by using online platforms. b) to find out the students' attitudes to learning critical reading using online platforms. This study uses a qualitative methood with used purposive sampling method in obtaining the required data. Participants in this study were lecturers and 35 students in clas s 3A, observations and questionnaires were used by researchers to obtain data on teacher's roles and students' attitudes in critical reading learning by using digital platforms as learning media. The results of data analysis from observations and questionnaires, the researchers concluded that teachers have a very influential role in the achievement of critical reading learning using digital platforms. In addition, in the implementation of online learning, teachers use 7 different online teacher roles. The results of the student questionnaire showed that most of the students showed positive student attitudes in carrying out critical reading learning process activities using digital platforms.
