Abstract

This research departs from phenomena in the school environment where there are still weak characters in students, such as cheating on exams, bad ethics to teachers, bulliying, brawls between students, disrespect for others in differences, fornography, and a weak culture of literacy. The objectives of this study are (1) Identifying program guidance planning in shaping the character of students in Bilingual Boarding School Bandung Private High School (2) Identifying the implementation of program guidance in shaping the character of students in these high schools. (3) Identifying the supporting and inhibiting factors of the implementation of program guidance in shaping the character of students in the high school. (4) Identifying the results of implementing the guidance program in shaping the character of students in the high school. This research uses a qualitative approach using descriptive methods. This research was conducted by explaining or analyzing data obtained from the Bilingual Boarding School Bandung Private High School. The data collection techniques use in-depth interviews, observation, and documents. The results of this study indicate that (1) Planning program guidance in shaping the character of students in Bilingual Boarding School Bandung Private High Schools formulates the objectives of program guidance, various program guidance, and program guidance methods. (2) Implementation of program guidance in shaping the character of students includes a variety of activities and methods. (3) Supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the guidance program in shaping the character of students in Bilingual Boarding School Bandung Private High School, namely: a) Supporting factors: school policy, learner motivation, determination and spirit of the program guidance and environment coaches. b) Inhibiting factors: the psychological aspects of students in following the program guidance. (4) The results of implementing the guidance program have effectively fostered the character of students for the better. To foster students' character to be better, it requires several activities such as visitation, guidance hours, BTQ, and camp osis by adjusting various methods.
