Abstract
The research investigates the implementation of speech shadowing technique on teaching English pronunciation in online classroom. It also aims to identify students’ responses toward the speech shadowing technique on students’ pronunciation. The respondents were seventh grade students at SMPN 56 Bandung. The instruments used to collect the data were observation, questionnaire, and interview. The observation was used to know the process of implementing the speech shadowing technique on teaching English pronunciation. Moreover, questionnaire and interview were used to find out the students’ responses of using the technique. The results of data analysis are that the students showed a positive toward the lesson even though they learned in an online course. During the lesson, they understood well what speech shadowing technique was, and what should they did to apply the technique. Moreover, they have good response on learning English pronunciation with speech shadowing technique in online classroom. This research suggests the teachers to consider an appropriate technique when they taught English pronunciation in the class. The study was expected to be able to help the students to reduce mispronounced words. The study has also some contributions to the language field where teachers or lecturers need to take a special attention of this phenomenon.
