Abstract

The process of recruiting and selecting new students is the initial activity carried out by the pesantren ahead of the new school year. This activity is carried out in an effort to select quality students who are in accordance with the character of the pesantren. Even though it has become a routine for Islamic boarding schools, recruitment and selection activities for new students still have problems starting from the announcement of registration information, the recruitment, and selection process, plus the covid-19 pandemic outbreak which caused the end of the face-to-face learning process to be replaced with online or online learning. All activities are switched to the online system. This study aims to analyze the needs of new students, recruitment strategies, and selection of new students, and to analyze the implementation of recruitment management and selection of new students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, namely to describe, explain, and reveal the results of research regarding the recruitment and selection of new students. The data collection technique in this research is to use interview, observation, and documentary study techniques. The data analysis model in this study follows the concept given by Miles and Huberman. Activities in data analysis are data reduction, display data, and conclusion. The steps to test the validity of this research data are to extend observations, increase persistence, and data triangulation. The results of this study indicate that during the Covid-19 pandemic, Darul Inayah Islamic Boarding School, Cisarua, West Bandung in the 2020/2021 academic year continued to carry out learning in the pesantren environment and continued to accept new students using the recruitment and selection process. This is the initial program to get new, qualified students but still pay attention to the health protocol regulations in preventing the transmission of covid-19. Analysis of the needs of students is applied to determine the number of students accepted by looking at the capacity of the pesantren. The promotion strategy and the affirmation pathway are used because the students accepted are only those who are orphaned or poor. recruitment and selection systems in the form of online and offline systems. The recruitment and selection process for new students at the Darul Inayah Islamic Boarding School, Cisarua, West Bandung, consists of various activities, namely the formation of committees, holding meetings, disseminating information, and registering new students. while in the selection activities include determining the assessment, meeting, announcement of acceptance and re-registration. Factors to consider in this activity are ethical factors and equal opportunity.
