Abstract

Classroom management is one of the keys to succeed the teaching learning activities conducted in the classroom. Well designed classroom management by teachers will have a positive effect on students learning outcomes. Teacher is one of the most important people that can make a good classroom management; it is about how the teachers can organize the classroom in English learning process. Every teacher must have method to present some skills of their student with always improving the knowledge. The purpose of this research was to investigate classroom management applied by English pre-service teacher at seven grade in the state Islamic junior high school SMP PLUS AL-AITAAM Bandung. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative with the data collection through observation and interviews. The findings showed that the participants used several strategies in managing classroom. The first strategy dealt with the activities at the beginning of the class. They were greeting, praying, giving motivation, setting up classroom agreement, and calling the students one by one. Second strategy dealt with delivering the materials including selecting the materials, presentation that related with the students' life to attract their motivation, and establishing communication approach. The last strategy dealt with the activities at the end of the lesson which covers giving summary, question and answer session, and giving evaluation and motivation.
