Abstract

ENGLISH : The process of adaptation from a book into a film leads to several element changes. This study investigates how Bram Stoker's Dracula was adapted and focuses on identifying elements in both novel and film and how the adaptation transformed the novel's element into a film. The researcher used Hutcheon's adaptation hypothesis in this investigation. Using a comparative methodology, this literary criticism study contrasts the narrative patterns of novels and films. The novel was written by Bram Stoker, and the film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola with the title Bram Stoker's Dracula. The data was gathered through reading, watching, and taking notes. INDONESIA : Proses adaptasi dari sebuah buku menjadi sebuah film melibatkan beberapa perubahan elemen. Studi ini menyelidiki bagaimana Dracula karya Bram Stoker diadaptasi dan berfokus pada pengidentifikasian unsur-unsur baik dalam novel maupun film dan bagaimana adaptasi tersebut mengubah unsur novel menjadi sebuah film. Peneliti menggunakan hipotesis adaptasi Hutcheon dalam penelitian ini. Dengan menggunakan metodologi komparatif, kajian kritik sastra ini mengontraskan pola naratif novel dan film. Novel ini ditulis oleh Bram Stoker, dan film ini disutradarai oleh Francis Ford Coppola dengan judul Dracula karya Bram Stoker. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara membaca, mengamati, dan mencatat.
