Abstract
In each film, there are various messages conveyed. Films have various ways to convey moral messages, one of which is conveying moral messages using satirical techniques. Satire is a technique for directors or writers to convey messages indirectly. This indirect message can also be further divided into several genres according to Jonathan Swift, there are genres of humor, irony, control, and magnification. This study aims to reveal the satire of humanism contained in the film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes by Matt Reeves. This qualitative research is presented in narrative or textual form. This research is based on the script and also scenes in the film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In this film, there are 19 tables containing the satire found in the film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which depicts satire of humanism. The satire is found in the dialogues spoken by the characters, including the dialogues spoken by Caesar and Koba. Caesar and Koba are the two characters who play an important role in the delivery of satire in the film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The results of this study succeeded in finding that the satire of humanism contained in this film was delivered by the ape, namely Caesar and Koba who were not human.
