Abstract

ENGLISH : Last February 2021, the South Korean entertainment industry was astounded by the issue of bullying by artists and idols. One of the idols involved in the issue is Mingyu, a member of a boy group named SEVENTEEN. PLEDIS Entertainment, Mingyu’s agency, then released four statements to discuss the issues involving Mingyu. Since the number of statements is more than the other agencies, PLEDIS Entertainment’s statements are chosen as the purposive sample for this research. This study aims to find the intention of PLEDIS Entertainment’s statements using the theory of Bach and Harnish (1979) related to the constative illocutionary act. The intention of the statement is obtained through the analysis of the types of the constative illocutionary act and the illocutionary force. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. This study tends to use document analysis which is analyzed by Miles and Huberman’s theory (1994), divided into data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the findings and discussions, 66 data of constative illocutionary acts were classified as assertive (24), retrodictive (1), descriptive (5), ascriptive (3), informative (24), confirmative (4), dissentive (1), and responsive (4). These types of constative illocutionary acts imply the intention of PLEDIS Entertainment’s statements through illocutionary force. In conclusion, the statements released by PLEDIS Entertainment on the issue regarding SEVENTEEN member Mingyu aims to provide information such as testimony, an explanation of the process, the result of the truth-seeking process, and convey opinions that they believe to be true. INDONESIA : Februari tahun 2021 lalu, industri entertainment Korea Selatan dihebohkan dengan isu bullying yang dilakukan oleh artis dan idol. Salah satu idol yang terlibat dalam isu adalah Mingyu, anggota boygroup bernama SEVENTEEN. PLEDIS Entertainment, agensi dari Mingyu, kemudian merilis empat pernyataan untuk membahas isu yang melibatkan Mingyu. Pernyataan PLEDIS Entertainment dipilih sebagai objek penelitian karena jumlahnya yang lebih banyak dibandingkan agensi lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan maksud dari pernyataan PLEDIS Entertainment dengan menggunakan teori Bach dan Harnish (1979) terkait constative illocutionary act. Maksud dari pernyataan tersebut didapatkan melalui analisis jenis constative illocutionary act dan illocutionary force. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis dokumen yang dianalisis dengan teori Miles dan Huberman (1994), terbagi menjadi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, 66 data constative illocutionary acts termasuk ke dalam jenis assertive (24), retrodictive (1), descriptive (5), ascriptive (3), informative (24), confirmative (4), dissentive (1), dan responsive (4). Jenis-jenis constative illocutionary act tersebut menunjukkan maksud dari pernyataan PLEDIS Entertainment melalui illocutionary force. Disimpulkan, pernyataan yang dirilis PLEDIS Entertainment terkait isu yang melibatkan mingyu bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi berupa kesaksian, penjelasan proses dan hasil pencarian kebenaran, serta menyampaikan pendapat yang mereka yakini kebenarannya.
