Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan di abad sekarang disebut sebagai abad berbasis teknologi dan pengetahuan, siswa perlu memiliki keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi salah satunya keterampilan berpikir sistem dalam memahami kemajuan di era sekarang ini. Keterampilan berpikir sistem merupakan keterampilan memungkinkan pemahaman yang memadai tentang akar penyebab beberapa perilaku kompleks untuk memprediksinya dengan lebih baik dan mengatur hasilnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh pendekatan STEM terhadap keterampilan berpikir sistem siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian mix method dengan desain embedded. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 34 siswa kelas X MIPA 1 dan 35 siswa kelas X MIPA 4 di salah satu SMA di Tasikmalaya. Sampel penelitian menggunakan kelas X MIPA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X MIPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan penentuan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Penelitian memperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat peningkatan nilai posttest baik pada kelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol. Dapat dilihat dari hasil uji mann-whitney diperoleh hasil sebesar 0,00 < 0,05 menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan STEM dengan membuat produk biofilter memberikan pengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir sistem siswa. ABSTRACT NASYA MILLATUL FAZA : “Pengaruh Pendekatan STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) terhadap Keterampilan Berpikir Sistem Siswa pada Materi Pencemaran Lingkungan”. The development of technology and science in the current century is referred to as the technology and knowledge-based century, students need to have high-order thinking skills, one of which is system thinking skills in understanding progress in the current era. Systems thinking skills are skills that allow sufficient understanding of the causes of some complex behaviors to better predict them and regulate their outcomes. This study aims to describe the effect of the STEM approach on students' thinking systems skills in environmental pollution material. This research is a mix method research with an embedded design. The population used in this study were 34 students of class X MIPA 1 and 35 students of class X MIPA 4 at a high school in Tasikmalaya. The research sample used class X MIPA 4 as the experimental class and class X MIPA 1 as the control class with purposive sampling. The results showed that there was an increase in posttest scores in both the experimental class and the control class. It can be seen from the results of the Mann-Whitney test, the results obtained are 0.00 <0.05 indicating that learning using the STEM approach by making biofilter products has an influence on students' thinking system skills.
