Abstract

ENGLISH : The primary subject of the researcher's thesis is the use of the fantasy genre formula in the Fantastic Beasts Film Trilogy. The book mostly relies on genre theory as its theoretical framework. The primary area of investigation in the researcher's work is to the extraordinary characteristics inherent in the fantasy genre, as expounded upon by many esteemed academics, such as Saricks, Gates, Howard, and several others. Fantasy is recognized as one of the genres within popular literature. The inquiry also incorporates the idea proposed by the Cawelti formula. To ascertain the veracity of a given phenomenon, the researcher is compelled to address two fundamental inquiries: (1) What are aspects of formula represented in David Yates’s Fantastic Beasts film trilogy? (2) How are Settings and mythical creatures build the fantasy in David Yates’s Fantastic Beasts film trilogy? This study used a combination of literary criticism methodology and qualitative data analysis techniques. The major data source for this study was the Fantastic Beasts Film Trilogy, while the secondary source consisted of the screenplays from these films. The outcomes of this research suggest that fantasy films adhere to a consistent pattern. The researcher has arrived at the following conclusion by analyzing the ideas proposed by many specialists on the extraordinary elements included in the Fantastic Beasts film Trilogy. (1) An ignorant beginning, (2) an Imaginary world, (3) An imaginary being, (4) The journey/quest, (5) Treasure, (6) A clear sense of good and evil, (7) The use of magic and supernatural power, (8) Action motives. It can be deduced that the success of the Fantastic Beasts film trilogy can be attributed to two aspects. Firstly, the use of a formulaic structure as the story's foundation leads to a narrative that is easily anticipated and appreciated by both readers and viewers. INDONESIA : Subjek utama skripsi peneliti adalah penggunaan rumus genre fantasi dalam Trilogi Film Fantastic Beasts. Skripsi ini sebagian besar bergantung pada teori genre sebagai teori utama. Fokus utama kajian dalam karya peneliti adalah pada karakteristik fantastik yang melekat pada genre fantasi, seperti yang diungkapkan oleh banyak ahli yang dihormati, seperti Saricks, Gates, Howard, dan beberapa lainnya. Fantasi diakui sebagai salah satu genre dalam sastra populer. Penelitian ini juga menggabungkan gagasan yang diusulkan oleh Formula milik Cawelti. Untuk memastikan kebenaran penelitian, peneliti harus menjawab dua pertanyaan fundamental: (1) Apa aspek dari rumus yang ada dalam trilogi film Fantastic Beasts karya David Yates? (2) Bagaimana Setting dan makhluk mitos membangun fantasi dalam trilogi film Fantastic Beasts karya David Yates? Studi ini menggunakan kombinasi metode kritik sastra dan teknik analisis data kualitatif. Sumber utama data untuk penelitian ini adalah Fantastic Beasts Film Trilogy, sementara sumber sekunder terdiri dari naskah dari film-film ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa film fantasi mematuhi pola yang konsisten. Peneliti telah sampai pada kesimpulan berikut dengan menganalisis ide-ide yang diusulkan oleh banyak spesialis tentang unsur-unsur fantasy yang termasuk dalam film Fantastic Beasts Trilogy. (1) Awalan yang tidak tahu, (2) Dunia imajiner, (3) Makhluk imajiner, (4) Perjalanan atau tantangan, (5) Harta karun, (6)Pengertian yang jelas tentang baik dan jahat, (7) Penggunaan sihir dan kekuatan supernatural, (8)Motif tindakan. Kita dapat menyimpulkan bahwa kesuksesan Fantastic Beasts film trilogy dapat dikaitkan dengan dua aspek. Pertama, penggunaan struktur formula sebagai dasar cerita, yang mengarah pada narasi yang mudah diprediksi dan dihargai oleh pembaca dan penonton.
