Abstract

This research examines sentences from an article on the official E-International Relations website, focusing on the impact of climate change on the social environment, particularly its influence on women. The study utilizes Charles W. Kreidler's theory (1998). The objectives z to identify the thematic role on citations in the Gender And Climate Change article and to analyze how do thematic role can enhance the meaning on the article entitled Gender And Climate Change. The research adopts a qualitative method and sources data from the official E-International Relations website, specifically sentences from the article Gender And Climate Change uploaded on February 8, 2023. All citations from the article was analyzed to identify each argument and its predicate, clarifying the thematic roles in each passage. The study gathers 30 citations and identifies thematic roles such as agent (8), actor (1), affected (9), affecting (6), effect (12), associate (6), place (9), and theme (21). The most common thematic role is the theme, which is frequently found and clarifies the meaning within the article. The thematic roles of theme refer to entities or arguments that hold the main interest in the discussion. In conclusion, these thematic roles help elucidate information in the article Gender And Climate Change by representing real aspects of entities or arguments facing issues of justice or equality in environmental social, including exploring the meaning of each predicate related to these arguments.
