Abstract

Writing is one of the four essential skills students must develop in learning English. However, many students still need help writing English, such as lack of planning, practice, and ineffective methods. It makes students less interested in learning writing, so they cannot produce written text effectively and confidently in English. Hence, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of the FWCF technique in enhancing students writing skills. This study used a quantitative method. This research was conducted at SMAN Situraja in Sumedang. The population of this research was students in second-grade, and the subjects in this study were 34 students from class XI MIPA 1 who were taken based on non-random sampling. The design of this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test. Students carried out the pre-test, then were given the learning treatment, and the post-test. Meanwhile, the criteria of writing skills assessed have five aspects: content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS version 25, which tested the normality of the data, the hypothesis, and the N-Gain. The results of this study showed an increase in students' writing skills. The pre-test mean before applying treatment was 70.13, while the post-test mean after the treatment was 84.58. It is clear from the findings that the results are superior to those obtained after receiving treatment. As a result, the t-test calculations reveal that the t-count was 25.925, and the t-table was 2.034. Thus, the t-count is higher than the t-table. As a result of the t-count exceeding the t-table, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. It means there was a significant enhancement in students' writing skills after implementing the FWCF technique. Based on the result analysis, it concluded that there is an increase in students' writing skills after implementing the FWCF technique in learning. This learning technique is recommended to teachers, which helps students and teachers in learning English, especially in writing skills.
