Abstract
It is necessary for there to be an understanding of each other in the course of a conversation in order to generate good communication and ensure that the information that is to be presented will be received in an appropriate way. If it is not done in the correct manner, it will result in the interlocutors coming to different implications. This study aims to analyze implicature as a result of flouting maxim in the series script stranger things season 4 (2002). The data is collected from the scene of each episode and subsequently subjected to qualitative analysis using an appropriate data analysis methodology by Creswell (1998), with the data being categorized based on its type proposed by Grice (1989). Grice (1975) also proposes it for emergent strategies, which is subsequently supported by Levinson's (1983) theory.The results of this study found that there were 68 data, each of which was divided into 4 types, namely flouting maxim of quantity (21 data), flouting maxim of quantity (11 data), flouting maxim of relevance (28 data) and flouting maxim of manner (8 data). After then, the data generated strategies as a consequence of the flouting maxim, and there were 13 data that served as representatives of each flouting maxim that occurred.
