Abstract

Language is a tool for communication that humans utilize every day. Every language contains variations, often known as language styles. A movie is a form of visual communication in which a language styles can be discovered and examined. This research goal is to provide the examination of language style analysis which is determined by the factor. As a result, this analysis aimed to completely assess the language styles and nfluencing factors found in Beauty and The Beast Movie's Script. The analysis is based on Martin Joos theory. There are types of language styles: frozen style (oratorical style), formal style (deliberative style), informal styles, intimate style, consultative style, and casual style. A research method used in the analysis is a descriptive qualitative method which is finding the greater data understanding. The Data came from the transcription of the characters conversations in the movie, which resulted in 38 data points. The results of all data are uttered by the character in the conversation in Beauty and The Beast movie script which there are 5 data of frozen styles, 9 data of formal styles, 7 data of intimate styles, 6 data of consultative styles and 11 data of casual styles. The factors that influence the occurrences of language styles include individual state, setting, topic, and function that influence language variation. It can be concluded that the movie is contained with the dominant language style in the form of casual which determines its genre and child audience segmentation, indicating that the genre of this movie is musical romantic fantasy due to the situation setting and production of language style bound factors.
