Abstract
This study examines the masculinity values of the major characters in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) movie using the masculinity theories by John Archer and Barbara Lloyd. The aims of this research are first, to identify the characterization of the major characters in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) movie and secondly, to analyze and discussed the masculinity values in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) movie through the major characters. This study uses the theory of masculinity to analyze the masculinity values portrayed by major characters in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) movie. The data collection method used in this study is observation and documentation using note-taking techniques. The data analysis method used is the content analysis method. The result of this research analysis is a representation of masculinity values from the major characters in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) movie. Eight major characters studied by the researcher, each character depicts a different side of masculinity. Gentle masculinity is portrayed by Newt Scamander, Tina Goldstein, Seraphina Picquery and Jacob Kowalski. Aggressive masculinity is described by Mary Lou, Percival Graves, and Gnarlak. Meanwhile, the stereotype of hegemonic masculinity is described by Credence.
