Abstract

This research focuses on finding the types of illuminati’s signs represented and examine the illuminati’s signs representation based on Pierce’s Semiology which projected narrative conspiracy theory in novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown 2001. Using the semiotic theory from Pierce which determines the type of sign representation namely icon, index, and symbol. However, in narrative conspiracy of Illuminati scheme. The theory is used from Farinelli theory which the considerations are the thrill of the unknown, sense of empowerment, simplified worldview, social polarization, erosion of critical thinking, undermining truth in experts, global control, manipulation of power, symbolism, celebrity involvement. Furthermore, this research used the research method of qualitative descriptive study, this research used methods rely on text data that have unique steps in data analysis and draw on diverse designs. This method was used to analyze the data from the textual standpoint to find the greater detail of understanding. The object was taken from Angels and Demons Novel by Dan Brown 2001. This research has identified 30 data, which in detail of analysis as divided into 9 icon signs, index signs 10, 11 symbol signs. Resulted the notion where sign is determined by direct representation form, yet the rest is associated arbitrary due to conspiracy. In the detail of conspiracy theory scheme are 4 in the thrill of the unknown, 3 in sense of empowerment, 3 in simplified worldview, 3 in social polarization, 2 in undermining truth expert, 3 in manipulation of power, 3 in symbolism, 3 in celebrity involvement. it resulted the notion where all of the scheme form is deploying the notion of blurring and neglected the truth.
