Abstract
This study focuses on the effect of Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategies on improving students' vocabulary mastery. This study employed a quantitative method using statistical model as the data analysis methodology. A pre- experimental design were utilized to collect data. The study population was all class VII students of MTs Darul Fikri Cipongkor for the 2023/2024 academic year. Sampling was carried out by purposive sampling, by determining class VII D as an experimental class with a total of 30 students. The results showed that students' vocabulary mastery using Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategies resulted in an average pre-test score 49.77 in the "low" category and an average post-test score 75.10 in the "good" category. The improvement between the pre-test and post-test scores is 25.33 points, which means the students' vocabulary increased significantly. In addition, the results of the two paired sample test show a significance value below 0.05, which is equal to 0.01. So, with these results H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategies has an effect on increasing students' vocabulary mastery. Thus, Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategies is effective in learning English especially on students’ vocabulary mastery.
