Abstract

INDONESIA : Penggunaan media sosial Instagram pada saat ini sering digunakan oleh mahasiswa, sehingga mahasiswa akan merasakan FOMO dikarenakan sering melihat pencapaian orang lain di Instagram. Sehingga, kemunginan besar seseorang sering melakukan social comparison dengan orang lain di situs jejaring sosial, juga pada media sosial Instagram, seseorang bisa merasakan senang atau tidak senang, puas atau tidak puas dengan diri mereka sendiri. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh antara self-esteem dengan fear of missing out (FOMO) pada mahasiswa pengguna Instagram dengan social comparison sebagai variable moderator. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan kausalitas. Partisipan penelitian ini sebanyak 222 mahasiswa pengguna Instagram yang didapatkan dengan teknik non-probability sampling dengan jenis convenience sampling. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu regresi berganda dan moderated regression analysis (MRA). Penelitian ini menghasilkan bahwa perngaruh self-esteem terhadap FOMO memiliki pengaruh yang sangat kecil dan tidak signifikan dan social comparison tidak dapat dijadikan variabel moderator. ENGLISH : Nowadays, students often use Instagram social media, so students will feel FOMO because they often see other people's achievements on Instagram. So, there is a big possibility that someone often makes social comparisons with other people on social networking sites, also on Instagram social media, someone can feel happy or unhappy, satisfied or dissatisfied with themselves. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the influence between self-esteem and fear of missing out (FOMO) on student Instagram users with social comparison as a moderator variable. The research design used is quantitative with a causality approach. The participants in this research were 222 students using Instagram who were obtained using a non-probability sampling technique with a convenience sampling type. The data analysis used is multiple regression and moderated regression analysis (MRA). This research shows that the influence of self-esteem on FOMO has a very small and insignificant effect and social comparison cannot be used as a moderator variable.
