Abstract

Subtitle translation is an essential element in the modern entertainment industry, allowing a global audience to enjoy content in their own language. This thesis discusses the subtitle translation method used in the Moon Knight series episode "The Goldfish Problem." This method includes the essential steps of producing accurate and appealing subtitles to the target language audience. The translator must ensure that the subtitle text not only retains the original message but also conforms to the rhythm of the dialogue and blends into the atmosphere of the scene. It is also important to understand the culture and social context associated with the story. The translation theory used in this thesis is the one proposed by Peter Newmark. The translator must ensure that the language used in the subtitle matches the culture and norms of the target audience, so that the message of the story remains relevant and understandable. In the Moon Knight series episode "The Goldfish Problem," careful and contextual subtitle translation methods ensure that the viewing experience remains engaging for viewers from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. By combining an intelligent understanding of the storyline, expertise in choosing the right words, knowledge of culture, and modern technology, this method became a key contributor to spreading the message and beauty of Moon Knight's story around the world.
