Abstract
Personality transformation can be experienced by a character in a literary work, which refers to a deep personal change or growth that results in a new and improved state. This transformation includes changes in behaviour, mindset, or self-identity. In this personality transformation, there are certainly processes and factors that influence it, these factors can be internal factors, external factors, or a combination of both. This research discusses a female character named Carol Peletier from The Walking Dead series who undergoes a personality transformation. This research uses characterization theory from Boggs and Petrie to analyze the character's personality before and after experiencing personality transformation, then psychoanalysis theory from Sigmund Freud to analyze internal factors, and behaviourism theory from Skinner to examine external factors. Freud's psychoanalytic theory is specifically used to analyze internal factors, as well as Skinner's behaviorism theory which focuses on analyzing external factors. The method used in this research is a qualitative method which is a research approach used to understand social phenomena deeply, explore meaning, and interpret complex contexts. The results of this research are 30 data that explain Carol's personality before experiencing personality transformation, then 30 data explain Carol's personality after experiencing personality transformation. In addition, there are 8 data that explain the internal factors such as past traumas, introjection of people around and others, then 8 data explain the external factors such as the death of the husband and the death of the daughter.
