Several problems were found; many students still needed help writing text, so students needed to be more optimal in producing writing. In addition, the writer proposes a solution to solve students' problems in writing recount text by using direct and indirect feedback. This research aims to find out students' skills in writing recount text having been provided direct feedback by the teachers, to find out students' skills in writing recount text having been provided indirect feedback by the teachers, and to find out the differences in students' skills in writing recount text having been provided direct and indirect feedbacks by the teachers. This study uses quantitative methods with experimental designs. This study used a quasi-experiment involving two classes of participants who were not randomly selected. The research location in this study was SMAN 1 Tanjungsari Bogor. The population is class 10 of SMAN 1 Tanjungsari Bogor for the 2022/2023 academic year. Two classes were chosen, namely the experimental and control classes. The experimental class received direct feedback from the teacher with a sample size of 35 students, and the control class received indirect feedback from the teacher with 34 students. The data shows that the average score in the direct feedback class pre-test was 50.9838, and the post-test score in the same period was 61.7722. Meanwhile, in the indirect feedback class, the average score in the pre-test was 54.007, and the post-test score in the same period was 67.1514. It means there is an improvement in writing recount text after receiving direct and indirect feedback. The T-test results obtained were 0.010 ˃ 0.05 and 0.011 ˃ 0.05, explaining that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted for the experimental and control classes. Based on the scores obtained, account text writing skills produced a significant difference between the experimental and control classes' results after being given direct and indirect feedback. Thus, this research concludes that direct and indirect feedback can help students improve their ability to write recount text.
