Abstract

The improvement of madrasah quality is influenced by the headmaster's policies. Educator self-development is a positive factor in enhancing the quality of educator performance, which is crucial for improving madrasah quality. Therefore, the headmaster must possess a quality leadership style and implement effective educator self-development programs. The issue in the field is that educators have not been able to fulfill their duties and responsibilities optimally, primarily due to the lack of effective self-development programs for educators and the ineffective leadership style of the madrasah head. The objectives of this research are: 1) to analyze the influence of the transformational leadership style of the madrasah head on educator performance in State Islamic Senior High Schools across Garut Regency. 2) to analyze the influence of educator self-development on educator performance in State Islamic Senior High Schools across Garut Regency. 3) to analyze the combined influence of transformational leadership style and educator self-development on educator performance in State Islamic Senior High Schools across Garut Regency. The theoretical framework of this study refers to Bass and Aviola's theory, as cited by Jaja Jahari and A. Rusdiana, discussing transformational leadership style. It also draws from Candra Wijaya, Rahmat Hidayat, and Tien Rafida's theories on educator self-development. Mulyasa's theory is referred to for assessing teacher performance in terms of lesson planning, implementation, and evaluation. This research employs a quantitative approach through a survey method. The data type is quantitative, and the data source comprises 165 educators from State Islamic Senior High Schools across Garut Regency. Data is collected through the distribution of questionnaires and documentary studies. The questionnaire is analyzed using statistical methods, including instrument testing (validity and reliability tests), prerequisite testing (normality, linearity, homogeneity tests), and hypothesis testing (coefficient of determination, simple regression analysis, and multiple regression analysis) using SPSS v.26.0. The proposed idea is that madrasahs should ideally provide constructive programs in the form of education and training conducted internally and continuously. The research findings indicate that there is an influence of the transformational leadership style of the madrasah head on the performance of educators. Educator self-development has an impact on educator performance. Both, the transformational leadership style and educator self-development, simultaneously have an influence on the performance of educators in State Islamic Senior High Schools throughout Garut Regency.
