Abstract

INDONESIA : Penggunaan media sosial sudah menjadi kebutuhan yang tidak bisa dihindari, tak terkecuali oleh mahasiswa. Intensitas penggunaan media sosial yang tidak dikontrol dapat membuat mahasiswa mengalami FOMO karena melihat berbagai macam konten yang disuguhkan dilaman media sosial, sehingga mahasiswa kerap kali menilai negatif diri sendiri. Oleh karena itu, mindfulness dibutuhkan untuk mengintervensi positif anatara keduanya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran mindfulness pada pengaruh self-esteem terhadap FOMO pada mahasiswa pengguna media sosial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dan teknik sampling convenience sampling. Responden pada penelitian ini sebanyak 180 mahasiswa aktif pengguna media sosial berusia 18—25 tahun. Analisis yang digunakan ialah analisis mediasi dengan process. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan mindfulness dapat menjadi variabel mediator antara self-esteem dan FOMO. ENGLISH : The use of social media has become a necessity that cannot be avoided, except by college students. The intensity of uncontrolled use of social media can cause students to experience FOMO because they see various types of content presented on social media pages, so that students often judge themselves negatively. Therefore, mindfulness is needed to intervene positively between the two. The aim of this research is to determine the role of mindfulness in the influence of self-esteem on FOMO in students who use social media. The research method used is a quantitative approach and convenience sampling technique. The respondents in this study were 180 students who were active social media users aged 18-25 years. The analysis used is mediation analysis with processes. The results of this study show that mindfulness can be a mediator variable between self-esteem and FOMO.
