Abstract

INDONESIA: Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada hasil riset pendahuluan yang menunjukkan bahwa perlu adanya peningkatan kemampuan spasial geometri dan self-esteem peserta didik di SMPN 2 Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui keterlaksanaan proses pembelajaran Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar; (2) mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan spasial geometri antara peserta didik yang menggunakan pembelajaran CPA dengan pembelajaran konvensional; (3) mengetahui perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan spasial geometri antara peserta didik yang menggunakan pembelajaran CPA dengan pembelajaran konvensional; serta (4) mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan self-esteem peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah memperoleh pembelajaran CPA. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen dan desain penelitian The Nonequivalent Pre-Test Post-Test Control Group Design. Sampel terdiri dari 30 peserta didik kelas eksperimen (VIII D) dan 30 peserta didik kelas kontrol (VIII E), dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) keterlaksanaan aktivitas guru dan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran CPA dikategorikan sangat baik; (2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan spasial geometri antara peserta didik yang menggunakan pembelajaran CPA dengan pembelajaran konvensional; (3) terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan spasial geometri antara peserta didik yang menggunakan pembelajaran CPA dengan pembelajaran konvensional; serta (4) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan self-esteem peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran CPA. ENGLISH: The background of this study is based on the results of preliminary research which shows that there is a need to improve the spatial geometry ability and self-esteem of students at SMPN 2 Bandung. This study aims to (1) determine the implementation of the Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) learning process on the material of flat-sided space building; (2) determine the difference in the improvement of spatial geometry ability between students who use CPA learning with conventional learning; (3) determine the difference in achievement of spatial geometry ability between students who use CPA learning with conventional learning; and (4) determine the difference in self-esteem improvement of students before and after obtaining CPA learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental method and research design The Nonequivalent Pre-Test Post-Test Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 30 experimental class students (VIII D) and 30 control class students (VIII E), selected using simple random sampling technique. The results showed that: (1) the implementation of teacher and learner activities in CPA learning is categorized as very good; (2) there are differences in the improvement of spatial geometry skills between students who use CPA learning with conventional learning; (3) there are differences in the achievement of spatial geometry skills between students who use CPA learning with conventional learning.
